Civita di Bagnoregio

A town in the Province of Viterbo in central Italy

Founded by Etruscans more than 2,500 years ago, the Civita (or city) was the birthplace of Saint Bonaventure who died in 1274. Known as "the dying city" it was revitalised recently after acclaimed Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki casted the city in his film "La città incantata", resulting in streams of tourists visiting over the years culminating in over eight hundred thousand visitors in 2017.
