Ha’penny Bridge

Dublin, Ireland

The first pedestrian bridge to cross the River Liffey, the bridge was officially called the Liffey Bridge although among its other names, it has also been known as the Wellington, Metal, Triangle or Iron Bridge over the years. It is world renowned as the Ha'penny Bridge in reference to its original toll - matching the charges levied by the ferries it replaced - which was eventually dropped in 1919.
