The Yukon and Klondike River

The Klondike River is a tributary of the Yukon

Overseeing Dawson City as well as the confluence of the Klondike and the Yukon, it is hard to imagine that this was the centre of the Klondike Gold Rush in 1896 which transformed a First Nations camp with a population just under 5,000 into a bustling city of 40,000 within a short span of 2 years. After the gold rush ended, the population plummeted to 8,000.
