My experience having Dinner in the Sky in Dubai
March 20, 2020
Today I wanted to share with you a really cool experience called Dinner in the Sky that I had a chance to do while I was in Dubai.
I remember trying to find blog posts about it before we went, but I wasn’t able to find any which is why I decided to tell you about my experience.
They do have the Dinner in the Sky in other countries too, but we decided to do it in Dubai.
- Make sure that you use the washroom before you get strapped into the chair. They won’t lower the table once it’s up in the air unless there is an emergency
- Arrive 15 minutes early so you can sign in at the reception and receive instructions on what will happen next
- I would not recommend this if you are afraid of heights
- Keep in mind there is no floor so wear shoes that won’t fall off
- Wear comfortable clothes – I wore knee-length white jeans and a navy tank top and white sandals that were secured to my foot. Don’t wear clothes that are too tight or revealing. And I would personally not wear a skirt or a dress just because there is wind and I don’t want to flash anyone below us lol.
Are you ready for the experience of a lifetime?
What to expect from Dinner in the Sky
Essentially, Dinner in the Sky is a table with chairs that are lifted by a crane (at 50 meters) and you have a fancy meal while the table is hanging in the air and slowly rotating.
You need to purchase your ticket online at which time you need to select the timeslot you would like to book and what food you want from the menu.
It is a 3-course meal, so you need to choose a Starter, Main course, and Dessert.
The reason why you have to pre-choose the food is that they need to prepare how many items to bring on the flight.
The menu is available on their website.
There are three options based on the time of day you want to go – Dinner menu, Lunch menu and Afternoon tea menu.
The last one is the cheapest but obviously with the least amount of food. The Dinner menu is the most expensive and fancy.
As you can see this experience is pretty pricey, which is why we chose to do the lunch which was cheaper than the dinner.
Here you can check out the full price list.

The Dinner in the Sky experience is located at Al Sufoh – SkyDive Dubai.
Yes, that is where I did the skydiving – they are literally beside each other.
I skydived a few days before we did the Dinner in the Sky, so we knew exactly where to go as we saw the table hanging from the skydiving field.
If you want to know more about my skydiving experience, check out this blog post.
One of my friends was a bit afraid of heights so at first she was feeling super uncomfortable.
I would not suggest you do this if heights are not your thing.
I am not afraid of heights and there were times when looking down made me feel a little bit uneasy.
Even though, everything is perfectly safe and secure just the fact that there is no floor can make your palms sweat.

The actual experience
Once you arrive, you will need to sign in with the receptionist and wait to be called to the table outside. On the table, three cooks prepared and served the food.
And there is sort of like a tour guide who tells you more about the experience.
The crew was very friendly and answered all of our questions and took a bunch of pictures for us.
In terms of safety, you are strapped in your seat with so many seat belts that there is no way you can fall out.
You have a belt across your lap and two across your chest. The seats are comfy and cozy.
The chair spins left and right as well as it reclines backward. The question is, do you have the guts to do it!!
I did spin to take pictures but could not do the backward recline.

Once everyone is buckled in, the table is lifted slowly by a crane up to 50 meters.
The views from the table are amazing!! No need to crane your neck as the table will slowly rotate 360 degrees.
Some of the sites you can see are the Palm Island, Dubai Marina, Ain Dubai (the big Farris Wheel located on Bluewaters Island), the skydiving field, etc.
The table seats a total of 22 people. During our lunch, it was me and my two friends and an older couple so it was not full.
The session lasts about an hour and a half. That gives you plenty of time to enjoy your meal and take pictures of the stunning scenery.
The actual flight usually lasts about an hour and it takes about 15 minutes to seat and strap in the people and 15 minutes to disembark.
There are 6 sessions a day – 2 lunch, 1-afternoon tea, and 3 dinners.
Apparently, unicorns can fly too
The food was amazing!! Below you can see a picture of the menu that I chose. I checked their website just now and the menu has changed.
So if you are planning your own Dinner in the Sky experience, you might have a completely different menu than we did.
Regardless, the pictures give you an idea of what the food looks like and the portion sizes.
Here was our menu, pink is what I have chosen
Don’t expect to be stuffed after this, the food was great but the portions are quite small. It is about quality over quantity. There were vegetarian options available as well.
Don’t forget that alcohol is not served in the UAE. I drank water and orange juice.
The entire time there was music playing and we had a lovely conversation going among the three of us and the crew.
Starter – Smoked salmon carpaccio
Main course – “Sous Vide 75 degrees” Corn Fed Chicken Breast
Dessert – Chocolate Fudge Cake
Here are a couple of videos from our experience:
Final thoughts about Dinner in the Sky
In the end, they give you a bunch of funny signs to hold. For example “I forgot my parachute”, “The sky is the limit” which makes for some cute memorable pictures.
I think it was definitely worth it, the food was delicious and we had a great time.
It was a bucket list experience for sure. If you have the time and are willing to spend a bit of extra money on a unique experience, then I suggest you check out the Dinner in the Sky.

In the comments below let me know if you have tried the Dinner in the Sky experience in Dubai or a different country?
If you haven’t, would you do it?
